A professional sexologist, intimacy/relationship/sex coach, author, and speaker is Marla Renee Stewart, MA. She owns two businesses: Contract Liberation, which specializes in research for non-profit organizations, and Velvet Lips, which teaches about sexuality. She teaches sociology and women's and gender studies at Clayton State University as a lecturer.As a co-founder of the Sex Down South Conference, Marla hopes to unite disparate groups to exchange experiences and learn about the importance of being true to oneself and promoting sexual emancipation in all communities.In her private practice, Marla has served more than 100 clients worldwide, taught more than 20,000 individuals in more than 13 years, conducted more than 400 seminars, and studied human sexuality for more than 19 years. She has influenced the media as well; she has authored more than 200 articles, appeared in more than 20 books and journals, and appeared on more than 30 independent television programs and podcasts. She was recorded as a sex expert for Personal Injury Court and Bad Girls Club: Atlanta, and she appeared on Netflix's Trigger Warning with Killer Mike and Love & HipHop Atlanta.She is also a member of the Diverse Sexualities and Research Education Institute and SPARK Reproductive Justice NOW! boards. She and Dr. Jessica O'Reilly co-wrote her first book, The Ultimate Guide to Seduction & Foreplay (2020). She is also co-editing and writing a chapter for An Intersectional Approach to Sex Therapy, which will be released in 2021.
