Service Kink

In the BDSM community, a dominating partner, or top, assumes the role of satisfying the needs of the submissive, or bottom, partner in a service kink. The top is essentially servicing the bottom.

More About Service Kink

In BDSM, the service top's function is debatable. According to some practitioners, service topping is not "real" topping—people who like service topping claim to find the pastime enjoyable. In a typical service topping scenario, a top performs these activities after a bottom asks what they want. While service tops appreciate giving bottoms the necessary relief in those circumstances, bottoms may only want to experience the sensations they adore.

Scenes with a service top are planned and agreed to in advance, whereas "topping from the bottom" typically surprises the top mid-scene. However, some may view this as "topping from the bottom," rather than "real" submission.

Regardless of whether a power exchange relationship is established or not, the top of a scene is always responsible for keeping an eye on the condition of the bottom. Any scene, whether a standard Dom/sub relationship or a serving scenario, is subject to the same safety regulations.

The ideal illustration of service tops is found in professional doms. They are compensated to offer customers an excellent service.
