Katy Perry Says It's a 'Woman's World' and Encourages Us All to Masturbate in Latest Video.
In her most recent video, the celebrity showed off a brand-new Womanizer Premium 2 vibrator.
Katy Perry continues the long-standing tradition of sexuality in music videos by flaunting her amazing physique in her recently released "Woman's World" video. The 39-year-old singer appears to be embracing her sexuality in the lead single from her upcoming album, 143, which comes out on September 20.
Additionally, she appears to advocate using a specific vibrator, which is also one of our favorites.
A candy-coloured dive into Perry's idea of a woman's world
We see the leading lady take off her vest, hold a glittery hammer, and drill after Perry and her ladies introduce themselves and a group of her dancers in stances and attire that mimic the famous Lunch atop a Skyscraper photo. They then dance among sparks and stand in front of urinals.
Katy then holds up the Womanizer Premium 2 vibrator. A few seconds later, her dancers circle her, pointing at their leader while holding the same vibrator.
As the video repeatedly reminds us, we're fortunate to live in a world dominated by women; in addition to the blatant shout-out to the Womanizer, there are numerous other legendary references to female empowerment throughout the video, i
In keeping with her typical sugarcoated visual style, Perry gets crushed by an anvil at 1:14. Then, in a different scene, she blows herself up by sucking her thumb before strutting down a crazy metropolitan street while wearing a white bikini top and incredibly futuristic mechanical legs. Perry shouts her name, plays a video of YouTuber Trisha Paytas driving a monster truck, and inserts a gasoline nuzzle into her flawless glute. She closes the video Fever Dream while clutching a dazzling white prop of a woman's sexuality sign in one hand and the side of a chopper in the air with the other.
Championing women's empowerment?
Naturally, the music industry and Perry's horde of Katy Cat followers had much to say about the positive and negative video. Naturally, Perry, like everyone else in the contemporary music industry, is open to any online discussion, and with "Woman's World," she is undoubtedly creating a lot of discussion.
First off, as she has done previously, Katy worked with producer Dr Luke, who was sued for sexual assault by singer Kesha. Luke launched a countersuit for defamation against Kesha after refuting the accusations. The two reached an out-of-court settlement following years of litigation.
It was not lost on anyone that a man accused of sexual assault was featured in a music video advocating women's empowerment.
Numerous inquiries have also been made about the purpose of the lyrics in the video. Many people were annoyed by the obvious product placement, and the song and video have been heavily criticized for their antiquated and excessively broad jabs at feminine stereotypes.
Satire? Fun? Are you just missing the mark?
According to Perry, the video is satirical. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Perry maintained that the majority of her well-known songs, such as "Woman's World," convey a message of female empowerment.
When people think of me, they probably think of songs like "Roar," "Firework," and maybe "I Kissed a Girl," but I believe that these empowering songs are what they think of most. Songs that assist people through difficult times, songs used as t-shirt captions, or music with a message. And I adore that. I write these songs because I need to get through something, and I love hearing the stories. However, I wanted to keep doing that, and this is the first thing I have contributed since childhood, and I felt genuinely connected to my feminine divine.
We can't decide whether Perry is totally off the mark, making fun of her industry, having fun, or somehow juggling all of the above, even though we appreciate her supporting masturbation and sex toys, especially one of our favorites.
Perhaps we're living in Katy Perry's world rather than a "woman's world."
