How to Clean and Care for Your Sex Toys
It's crucial to make sure your sex toys are clean and prepared to provide the most experience possible, even if we *know* you are eager to enjoy your toys and the pleasure they bring! If you take care of your sex toys, they will last a long time, and cleaning them regularly will improve both your and their well-being.
But with so many diverse toy types and specifications, how can you properly clean various materials and care for your toys?
Across The Board - All Sex Toys
Cleaning your sex toy before and after use is crucial, regardless of the material it is made of. Like anything else, sex toys can get dusty! In addition, certain materials are far more likely than others to stick to lint, hair, and bacteria. Before you start playing or if you intend to share the toy with your partner in a safe manner, it never hurts to give it a quick cleaning.
Be certain of the IPX rating of your favorite toys before beginning any cleaning. Give it a thorough cleaning with warm water and your preferred toy cleaner (or mild, unscented hand soap) if there isn't a motor. You can gently wash the toy if it is splashproof (IPX6 or below), but you shouldn't immerse it in water. Pay close attention to charging ports and product handles that may have buttons.
If the product is IPX7, it can be completely submerged in water, and the controls and charging port don't need to be watched over. Try putting some mild soap or toy cleaning on a Q-tip and using it to enter the bowl of the suction attachment if your suction toy has an opening and a "dip."
Remember that to keep your sex toy safe and clean, you should clean it both before and after each use, regardless of the materials or motors it contains.
It is advised that you store your sex toys in a lint-free storage bag after cleaning and using them. This keeps them discrete and private, prevents them from gathering a lot of lint, dust, or hair, and is also a great way to travel with your sex toys. These bags reduce odor and are more breathable than some alternatives. In addition, they avoid placing sex toys in areas where they could become wet or exposed to direct sunlight.
Purely Silicone Sex Toys
To obtain the deep cleaning you want, you can also take a few more steps if your sex item is made entirely of silicone, like a dildo. You are strongly advised to do this if you share toys with others.
To get rid of bacteria from toys made entirely of silicone, you can boil them. All you have to do is place a pot of water on the burner and watch for it to boil. After that, briefly immerse the toys in boiling water to ensure the bacteria have been eliminated.
Additionally, you can use the dishwasher's sanitize setting to clean these toys without using any soap. We advise boiling them if this option is not available on your dishwasher. Boil whenever possible!
A comprehensive cleaning of a sex toy should take no more than one to three minutes, depending on the method you ultimately decide to use. Maintaining your sex toys clean and prepared for your next play session takes very little time. So go ahead and get your toys and treat them like a spa day!
