Gorean
The term "Gorean" describes a fictional way of life that first appeared in science fiction author John Norman's books. Although slavery need not be Gorean, those who live the Gorean lifestyle, or "Goreans," typically adhere to a master-slave relationship structure. The foundation of the Gorean identity is the Order of Nature (the gender role), the residence Stone (the residence), and the Caste System (the profession and the prestige it confers).
Many readers of Norman's books have taken up the Gorean way of life despite the fact that the Goreans in his books were native to the planet Gor. It and the BDSM approach both use the same fundamental ideas about slavery and service. However, the majority of Goreans do not consider their way of life to be a form of BDSM.
More About Gorean
While some Goreans only enjoy the lifestyle sometimes, many Goreans, in contrast to many BDSM practitioners, have a tendency to always act in accordance with their roles, both within and outside of a sexual context. Without the use of bondage, whips, or other BDSM instruments, Gorean slaves voluntarily submit to their masters. The creator of the books that sparked this way of life, John Norman, was critical of the psychological and physical damage that BDSM may cause. As a result, he recommended employing safe, symbolic alternatives to whippings, such as the sound of claps.
With men acting as their lords and women as enslaved people, Goreans often adhere to conventional gender norms. This isn't always the case, though, as a strong woman might abduct a male slave. However, some people have attacked the Gorean lifestyle because they think it is manipulative, abusive, and misogynistic. Women who engage, however, maintain that they do it voluntarily in spite of these opinions.
